Shri Yogeshbhai Lakhani can best be known as an Eminent Lawyer, a methodical thinker, a visionary having conceptual clarity about his goals i.e. motivating and gearing the Community; creating a new wave in the Lohana community; a harmonious fraternity; supporting and drawing talents in the main stream ; value added projects for betterment of community; create a remarkable infrastructure for Shree Lohana Mahaparishad; an efficient and effective e-network platform and by this media – touch, service, address and endeavour to provide solutions to Yuva, Mahila, Professionals, Health, Education, Culture, Housing and other issues/ areas through respective Committees.
Born on 17th November, 1963 at Mangalore, Shri Yogeshbhai Lakhani’s Educational journey is as follows:
Primary Education – Shardagram, Mangrol, Dist. Junagarh – an institution of repute established by Late Shree Mansukhrambhai Jobanputra;
Higher Secondary in Experimental School and Graduation in Commerce under M.S. University;
Obtained LLB degree from D.D. Kotiawala Law College, Porbander under Saurashtra University;
For bigger horizon and wider exposure, Shifted to Ahmedabad and initiated Law practice on 13th October, 1986 by joining the office of Advocate Shree D.G. Karia (who was later on appointed Judge, High Court of Gujarat);
Simultaneously with his practice, he completed his Masters (LLM) with flying colours and for this achievement; he was awarded a GOLD MEDAL.
In his Professional career, he excelled in the areas like Constitutional matters; Criminal proceedings; Civil and Service Laws; Labour Laws; Land, Realty and Property matters, detention matters, etc. Over a period of time, Criminal cases/matters/proceedings became his core competence like his illustrious father Late Shree Shashikantbhai Anandlal Lakhani – former respectable Speaker, Legislative Assembly and former Minister of Law & Judiciary, Industries, Mines, Minerals & Energy ministries of Govt of Gujarat.
As an Eminent Lawyer, in 1994- elected as one of the youngest members of Bar Council of Gujarat; by fetching maximum votes from the congregation of 40,000 advocates practising in various courts in Gujarat. He continues to be the member of Bar Council of Gujarat.
Shri Lakhani proved his Journalistic abilities-
From 1st Jan 1999, he took reigns as the Chief Editor of “Gujarat Law Herald”- a reputed & widely accepted Law Journal by the legal fraternity of Gujarat which has also the distinction of only Law journal published by the any state Bar-Council in the country.
He continued as the Chief Editor for more than 9 years.
Shri Lakhani also tested his Teaching abilities and Communication skills –
He also imparted his knowledge, shared his experience and rendered his services as Lecturer (Part time) in reputed Law colleges/ institution such as Nav Gujarat Law College – Ahmedabad (Now D.C.Trivedi Law College) and Siddhartha Law College – Gandhinagar for more than 12 years. He is recognised as the Post Graduate Legal faculty by Gujarat University.
Shri Lakhani gave evidence of his Innovative approach to an issue; Organisational & Management Skills-
He has been thrice elected as Vice-President and was elevated to the post of President of Gujarat High Court Advocates' Association for two terms.
During his tenure, he made radical changes in the process of election of the office bearers and members of Managing Committee; made vide scale changes in the Constitution of the Association, got the association registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act and also under the Societies' Registration Act;
Apart from this , he remarkably contributed to Education, training and welfare of young Lawyers and law students and also arranged number of cultural events as well as sports competitions;
On 4th August, 2008, he achieved the distinction of being designated as Senior Advocate by High Court of Gujarat as one of the youngest lawyers.
In the Social field , he indulged at the tender age of 17 when he first associated himself as a volunteer in the Blood donation and other activities of ‘Jagrut Yuva Mandal’ at Porbandar. Since then, he has never looked back.
He is Founder of “Shashikunj” - an Art & Music Academy in Ahmedabad established in fond memory and tribute to his father Late Shree Shashikantbhai Lakhani which provides a wide platform for overall development of the children and the youth on various forms of Art, Dance, Music and other cultural activities. In this area, he is very ably supported by his wife Shrimati Bhairviben Lakhani whose contribution in propagation of Cultural activities is excellent and remarkable.
He has also associated himself as the Director of Gujarat Tourism Development Society, a society established with a purpose to develop & accelerate tourism in Gujarat.
He has been nominated by the Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court as a Member of the General Council of Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar.
He has been rendering his services as the Joint General Secretary of Vishwa Gujarati Samaj. He also managed with his friends, a Children society for about 7 years for the overall development and grooming the children at Porbandar.
He has been associated as Secretary and Trustee of Akshaygadh - very well known TB Hospital of Keshod founded by Late Shri Ratubhai Adani.
Shri Lakhani also excelled in the field of Social Service, Cultural development, responsibility to own state, etc
Shri Lakhani is simultaneously and actively involved/attached to the causes/problems of Lohana Community at regional and Apex Level as well.
He renders his able services as the General Secretary of Shri Ahmedabad Lohana Mahajan Wadi Trust for more than 15 years. He has been the Trustee of Samarpan Education Trust, Ahmedabad.
He got attached to our Federal body Shri Lohana Mahaparishad as a young worker in Yuva Samiti about 17 years ago. Later on he was taken as a member of Madhyastha Samiti (Lohana Parliamentary Body).
Followed by the member of Central Executive Committee and was elevated as The chairman - Professional committee for 2 consecutive terms.
He is also honoured by being appointed as a Trustee of the Trust Board of Shri Lohana Mahaparishad .
Varni (selection) Samiti of Shree Lohana Mahaparishad has selected him as the President of this parent body for five years (2010-2015).
